Abstract

The purpose of the study. The article explores the peculiarities of modern historical education in the context of information warfare as a component of the hybrid Russian-Ukrainian war. The research methodology is based on the methods of historiographical analysis and synthesis. Scientific novelty. The analysis is based on the texts of Russian textbooks for basic schools, which contain information on the history of Ukraine. The main results of the study. The conclusion presents manifestations of hybrid threats in history education, which, in the author’s opinion, consist of the following: there is a deliberate distortion of historical facts, events and processes, their falsified interpretation is given, facts are replaced with judgments, and there is appropriation of other people’s achievements and gains in order to distort the historical past of a certain country, ethnic group in order to “glorify” one’s own country and ethnic group, etc. The offers are presented regarding forms of countering these hybrid threats from the standpoint of the importance and significance of the formation of the national memory of the Ukrainian people.
